鼻中隔湾曲症の人は頭がいい！・・・ｶﾓﾖ

以前、なぜ鼻中隔は曲がるのかということについて触れたことがありました。

ほぼ、その解答といってよさそうな記述を、札幌医科大学の耳鼻咽喉科のサイトにみつけました。
「～鼻と脳の選択－知能優先し嗅覚捨てた－～」というタイトルの記事です。
犬には鼻中隔湾曲症はないそうです。嗅覚の発達を優先した犬と、脳の発達を優先した人間。その違いが鼻中隔に現れているそうです。

立派な頭蓋骨と引き換えに、人間の鼻は曲がってしまった。鼻中隔の湾曲は脳が発達していることの証です。
なんだか曲がっている鼻中隔が誇らしくなりますね。
